Internship – Battery Systems Engineer – Lithium-Ion Batteries, Programming & Testing

About Battwoo

Battwoo is an international deep-tech startup developing energy storage systems based on second-life electric vehicle batteries. Our mission is to give EV batteries a second life by transforming them into stationary battery energy storage systems for industrial, commercial and energy applications. Our headquarters are in Paris, while our R&D and engineering activities are based in Madrid, where we design, test, integrate and validate our battery systems.

Key responsibilities

• Programming and configuration of BMS systems.
• Creation and validation of Simulink models.
• Programming of controllers and control logic.
• Experimental testing of lithium batteries (electrical, thermal and safety).
• Collaboration on electrical schematics and system configuration.

Educational objectives

• Understand the operation and integration of BMS systems in energy storage.
• Develop skills in battery system simulation (SoC, SoH, thermal).
• Gain hands-on experience in lithium battery testing under real-world conditions.
• Become familiar with industrial communication protocols (CAN, Modbus).

Requirements

• Student in Electronic, Automation, Industrial Engineering or similar.
• Strong knowledge of lithium batteries.
• Programming skills (Matlab/Simulink, C/C++ or Python).
• Experience with controllers and industrial communications is a plus.
• Analytical skills, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
• Professional English.
• French or Spanish is a plus.
